Restaurant
The “kickoff” or “inaugural shot”, “disparo inicial”of the project is building and operating a restaurant at Magdala, collaboratively supported by various Christian denominations. This restaurant will strikingly showcase that ONE STEP CLOSER has indeed begun dramatically and provide a welcoming space for pilgrims to share meals and fellowship.

Volunteer Program
Volunteers from different Christian faith communities will work together to serve pilgrims at Magdala. This collaboration aims to demonstrate mutual respect and cooperation, enhancing the pilgrims’ experience through personalized hospitality.

Artwork
The project will create a stunning iconic artwork and maybe include the creation of symbolic artworks such as sculptures and paintings that celebrate and teach the significance of oneness among Christians. These artworks will serve as educational tools and inspire visitors with the message of reconciliation and coming together again.

Worldwide Resonance
One Step Closer already stirs many hearts abroad. Imagine the impact of visitors and volunteers returning to their families and Churches! Encounter, mutual appreciation, teamwork replaces prejudices among different Christians, bonding them together to serve the needy nearby in their neighborhoods. Leaven from Galilee changes the world.
Magdala Crossroads
Magdala has been favored with superlatively-labeled archeological findings, gifted artists, and open-minded leadership. Jewish people express surprise because why would a second-temple-period synagogue would thrill Christians. Standing around a 2000-year-old synagogue in the area where Jesus traveled from synagogue to synagogue, Christians realize that, here in Galilee, the fountainhead of that stream animating billions worldwide, they stand again side-by-side, where once no divisions fractured their blessed discipleship.
All realize Magdala’s encounter potential for Jews and Christians and for Christians among ourselves, despite our myriad divisions and degrees of alienation. Without our intentional planning, Providence has surprised us with world-ranking artists from Reformation, Catholic and Eastern Churches who decorated Duc In Altum.
A culture of encounter flourishes for everyone of faith or no faith. Interfaith prejudice subsides. Fresh acquaintances spark developing friendships. Each one builds with their neighbor on what they share in common. Cherished Magdala vocabulary includes crossroads, culture of encounter, commonality. No wonder, One Step Closer – Hospitality Together sprouted on this fertile terrain for our shared treasures of humanity.

One Step Closer Prayer
Jesus,
You built the Church on the twelve foundation stones together with the names of the apostles.
At Your last meal with the twelve before You suffered, You prayed to Abba, Your Father, that we might all be one so the world would believe that He sent You.
You welcomed Samaritans and Gentiles, Greeks and Syrophoenicians, Romans and Ethiopians, and so brought together Jew and Gentile. After so many painful and damaging divisions we yearn for a unity that seems almost impossible, but, with You, nothing is impossible. You can transform our individualistic ways to give signs of reconciliation.
Show us how to bring together our five loaves and two fish, or seven loaves and some fish, our six jars full of water or even a mere cup of water can mean so much so You can reveal your Kingdom! Today so many don’t believe. Let us take one possible step closer together and offer hospitality together, so all can recognize You in the breaking of the Bread! Help us to go out into the deep of our suffering broken world offering authentic gestures of reconciliation and humble hospitality together.
